The Jane Goodall Institute has appointed a new director, after the institute’s board voted unanimously to appoint her.
Goodall, who will serve until June 2019, will be the group’s third female director.
“The Jane Goodalls have been one of the most influential feminist organizations in the world, and this is a great day for all of us at the Jane Goodell Institute,” said Goodall in a statement.
“I am honored to lead this institute and will be a positive and inspiring leader for the Jane goodall movement in the years to come.”
Goodall has been the director of the Jane’s Harvest project since 2015.
She was previously the executive director of Oxfam, and the former president of the International Women’s Media Foundation.
She has served on the board of the Human Rights Campaign and the United Nations.
Goodalas predecessor, Julie Seltzer, has been named to serve as interim director.
Goodell said in a press release that Goodall’s appointment reflects the “commitment to creating a climate where we are able to collaborate and find common ground.”
